Ali Katz is the very first guest to make a second appearance on my podcast. In Episode 61, Ali wowed us with the concept that if you care for yourself first, you can better care for your family. This was the message of her first book, Hot Mess to Mindful Mom: 40 Ways to Find Balance and Joy in Your Every Day.

Ali, who is the mum of two boys aged 12 and 10 and a mindfulness coach and meditation teacher, made such an impact when she first appeared on the podcast that I couldn't resist inviting her back to talk about her latest book. Get the Most out of Motherhood: A Hot Mess to Mindful Mom Parenting Guide launches, hot off the press, in less than a weeks time.

Now you understand that when you're calmer and more balanced you're a better mum, you're ready to take the next step. Ali teaches you how to push the inner work out into your home and embrace your best self while parenting. That way you can strengthen your relationships with your children and partner, create family rituals that your children will remember long after they've left home, and teach your children how to follow in your footsteps to becoming more mindful.

Go Conquer Motherhood!

Sex and intimacy is the last thing on your mind now you're a mum. By the time you fall into bed after another exhausting day juggling balls and fulfilling demands, being a goddess between the sheets is probably fairly low on your list of priorities.

In today’s podcast you'll understand why things have changed between you and your partner, and gain an insight into why you feel disconnected. But you'll also learn how to reignite the sparkle and start to feel the way you did before children came on the scene.

My guest today is Isiah McKimmie.

Isiah is a Sydney-based Relationship Therapist and Sexologist who has been helping couples maintain better relationships for over seven years. She helps them discover deep love, soulful intimacy and whole-hearted sex. Isiah believes that intimacy and relationships are deeply connected to our overall happiness and that, if you have the right foundation stones in place, a happy, passionate and loving relationship is possible for everyone.

Today Isiah will make you want to jump back into bed with your hubby because of your personal connection rather than simply the act of having sex. We consider intimacy from your partners perspective and how bringing back kindness, respect and understanding to your relationship may be the key to reigniting the passion.

We address the negative association that society has about marriage and children wreaking your sex life, and the impact that your perception of your body has on your relationship.

And we talk about the practicalities of making time to reconnect, why you might just have your priorities in the wrong order and realistic tips for maintaining a loving relationship. We also delve into how to fit time to be a couple into your busy life, and why scheduling in intimacy and sex can actually be fun, rather than contrived.

I am delighted to have Isiah on my show today. She'll help you realise why sex is so important to your relationship and why a great connection with your partner starts with yourself. You'll gain an appreciation that by dedicating time to having a healthy, intimate relationship you'll see the energy of your entire family change. Best of all, you're role modelling for your children's future relationships and giving them the precious gift of a happier family unit.

Go Conquer Motherhood!

Every mother has a pre-conceived idea of what pregnancy and parenthood will be like. But often the reality doesn't match the dream and it turns out to be completely different to the fluffy-bunny rabbit world that the media has created.

In today’s episode you'll get an insight into the mind of a mum who penned her motherhood experiences into a series of diary entries and modern-day poems. The thoughts and feelings of one mother, captured the hearts and minds of millions of others, who all nodded along in hearty agreement.

My guest today is SuperMum, Hollie McNish.

Hollie lives near Cambridge, UK with her seven year old daughter. An eternal writer and poet, Hollie naturally chronicled her observations of being a mum as a way to vent both her joy and her frustration of motherhood. Little did she know that her work would one day be published or that she would become an Internet sensation. Her book, 'Nobody Told Me' recently won her the highly-aclaimed Ted Hughes award and her YouTube channel, where she reads her poetry, has a following over over 4 million.

'Nobody Told Me' tracks Hollie's journey from the time she took her very first pregnancy test, to the day she dropped her 3 year old daughter to pre-school for the very first time. Through it, she explicitly shares her view on a whole array of mummy matters from the embarrassment of breast feeding in public to the loss of her identity. From exhaustion so overwhelming it lead her to 'cry hidden in loos' to her scorn of being branded as having 'baby brain'.

In this no-holds-barred episode, Hollie and I talk at length about our breasts flicking from being something sexual into being something functional and back again, to dealing with having sex again post-birth, and to feeling isolated and lost after having a child.

And the pièce de résistance? Hollie does an exclusive reading of my favourite poem from her book called, 'What's My Name Again' which leaves me brushing away the tears from the raw nerve that it hits head on.

I am so excited to welcome Hollie to my show today. I'm not a poetry lover, but this stuff you'll be eating up. She gives us a refreshingly real-life view of motherhood. Frank, honest and forthright from pregnancy to pre-school, which will leave you feeling like at last somebody finally gets it and actually gives a damn.

Go Conquer Motherhood!

Life is busy and life is stressful, and there are times when your health (understandably) gets neglected. From reaching for another piece of chocolate or finishing the bottle of wine, through to not exercising enough or getting adequate sleep, it's easy to fall into the trap of failing to take care of yourself.

Guilty as charged. I've got my hand up to all of those.

In today’s podcast, you'll find out how unhealthy habits can affect your health, and what it takes to overcome the bad habits and create new ones that will benefit your body and mind.

My guest today is SuperMum, Alice Bingham.

Alice lives in Brisbane, Australia with her husband and 20 month old son, Cruz. At the time of the interview she was 37 weeks pregnant with her second child, and has since given birth to a beautiful baby girl at the beginning of July.

In Alice's nursing days before becoming a mum, she observed a huge number of patients who were suffering illness as a direct result of an unhealthy lifestyle. Alice looked in the mirror and reflected on her own life. She too was overweight and not in the best health. This was the trigger that Alice needed to start a lifelong journey to good health.

Starting with an 8 week healthy eating challenge, and moving on to workouts, Alice lost an incredible 3 stone (21kg). But that was just the beginning. Health is so much more to Alice than just weight loss and progress, it's a lifestyle. It's about being present, self love, delicious healthy food and a strong and healthy mind.

Alice shares her progress, her stories, and her ups and downs of creating a healthy life at Alice in Healthyland. She writes a successful blog and has more than 30,000 Instagram followers who are inspired to love their bodies, get healthy and build mindfulness into their everyday lives. Her online followers have been beside her through weight loss, pregnancies, and life as the mum of a toddler ... and now a newborn.

In today’s episode Alice talks about how to stay motivated to keep healthy, even on the really tough, sleep deprived days. That no mistake is a ‘failure’, rather an opportunity to learn and grow. And that even though self care is difficult to fit in, the reward will always be worth the effort.

I'm so happy to have Alice on my show today. She'll remind you of the importance of taking care of yourself, the wonderfully purging effect of a good old cry, and shares some great tips on how to work out and eat healthily when time is short and you're running on empty.

Go Conquer Motherhood!

Feeling under the weather? Never mind. Sick bug? So what, the kids still need to eat. Unwell? Chin up. Soldier on.

We mums battle through injuries, viruses and feeling like dirt, because .... well, we have to. But what happens when you get really sick and suddenly you have to stop rushing around at 100 miles an hour so you can focus on getting better again.

In today’s episode of Mum-to-Mum Monday we talk about dealing with a serious illness, the toll it has on your emotional and physical wellbeing, and accepting help when you just can’t go it alone.

My guest today is SuperMum, Lisa Turner.

Lisa and her husband live in London, UK with their son and daughter who are 9 and 4.  In 2013, when her youngest child was just 14 months old, Lisa discovered a lump in her breast. She put it down to the affects of breast feeding, but it turned out to be far more sinister. Grade 3 breast cancer.

In the year that followed, family life was turned upside down with a rollercoaster of mastectomies, chemotherapy and dealing with the reality of her illness. The journey was painful and exhausting as Lisa and her family endured the dark times of fighting her illness and raising a young family at the same time.

Lisa is open and honest about the hardships of fighting cancer. The heart-wrenching inability to pick up her children following her double mastectomy. Not having the energy to be part of family life after debilitating chemotherapy. And wondering whether she would live to see her children grow up.

But fast forward 4 years, and Lisa is in remission and living a better life. She now looks back at the experience and draws on the positive things that breast cancer brought with it. The friends and community who rallied around to lend a hand. The love and support her husband gave her and their children. And the new perspective to life that her illness has given her.

But most of all, Lisa wants to share the message that examining your breasts and catching any problems early could save your life.

In today’s episode we learn of Lisa’s incredible strength when hearing the worst possible news and how she helped her children understand what was wrong with mummy. We laugh about the perils of wearing a wig in public and even compare the marvels of Lisa's pert reconstructed breasts verses my saggy post breast-feeding ones.

I am delighted to have Lisa on my show today. She bravely shares her story of dealing with serious illness when you have a young family, the importance of being raw and honest in your darkest hour, and how to see your experiences as a way to add value to your life as a mum so you always hold dear every precious moment.
