Mum-of-4 Rhonda Melogy runs a successful 6-figure business and a busy household. If that wasn’t enough, she also homeschools her four children. Having started her first seasonal business as a side-hustle while she still worked in her corporate job, Rhonda quickly realised she had a choice. She could either run herself into the ground trying to do it all, or she could work with her 'team' (the five other people in her family) and find a way to thrive both in her personal and professional life. How does she do it? Systems.

Rhonda's children all share the load at home. Her chore chart system ensures that all the important household jobs get done on a daily basis, but it also teaches her children age-appropriate life skills, instills a strong work ethic and creates the mindset that everyone can and should contribute towards family life. If you've ever fallen into the trap of being unrealistic with your time and running after your children thinking you can do a task better or quicker than they will ever do at their age and stage, Rhonda will remind you that your time is one of the most valuable assets you have. You just can't make more of it.

In this episode, Rhonda shares how to find pockets of time in your day to get really intentional about what you want to do. By the end of the episode, you'll understand why you should focus on one thing at the time, create systems and workflows in your life and business, and delegate or outsource any relevant tasks. If you're ready to learn how you can get everything done, but also find time for yourself and build strong connections with your family, you'll love my conversation with Rhonda..

Mum-of-two Renee Avis has the life-altering job of helping women who are struggling with body image, post-partum depression and anxiety, and eating disorders. As a Licensed Professional Counsellor she helps clients recognise their condition, and learn how to accept and love their bodies again.

Fulfilling her passion as a therapist, Renee's worked in treatment facilities and private practice for 12 years. She teams up with dieticians to support her patients in their journey from understanding and accepting their struggles to regaining control and achieving a healthier balance with food and nutrition.

Renee explains that an eating disorder massively impacts behaviour and lifestyle on a daily basis, so helps her clients dig deep to explore the internal narrative that may be stopping them from being kinder to themselves. One step at a time, she helps them to reframe their thinking and to start focusing on the self-care activities that they resonate with, which ultimately enables them accept their body more.

In this episode, you'll learn to pick up on the important clues that could indicate that you, or a fellow mum, is struggling with an eating disorder. You'll understand how loneliness and depression can be both a cause and an effect of an eating disorder, and how unrealistic expectations and unhelpful ideals in society may be stopping you from accepting your post-partum body. Whether you have an eating disorder or not, you'll discover how important it is to tune in and listen to your body and the signals it's sending you to. By doing so, you'll learn how to accept and love your body, wobbly bits and all.

When Zoe Blaskey's daughter was born everything changed. Despite being a trained meditation and yoga teacher and having a strong self-care practice, Zoe abandoned the daily habits that had given her so much inner strength over the years. She found herself overcome by fear and anxiety and, like many mums, started comparing herself to others. With her self-esteem hitting rock bottom, the negative patterns she was once so familiar with made an unwelcome comeback, and her self-critical voice became really loud.

Thankfully Zoe, now a coach, podcaster and speaker, knew exactly what to do. Through her training and experience, she gradually started to re-connect with the things she knew worked for her - community, meditation, yoga, and journaling. In a way, Zoe was lucky. Even though she found herself lost in the mayhem of early motherhood, she had the right tools to overcome her fear and anxiety. This is why, on a rainy Thursday afternoon, Zoe decided to start Motherkind. Through her blog, podcast and coaching, she shares her experience and knowledge to help and support other mums through testing times.

In this episode, you'll understand why your brain is wired for anxiety and fear and learn how you can look within yourself to overcome the big emotions that come with motherhood. By the end of this episode, you'll have a number of really easy-to-implement tools that will help you find or re-connect with who you are. You’ll learn to stop living out of obligation and start living the life that you want to live instead. Because like Zoe says, your children are only young once, and this is the only chance you’ll get to enjoy these precious years.

Dr Pragya Argawal is an academic, designer, writer, business owner, and the busy mum of three girls. Born and raised in India, she moved to the UK as a young single mum to complete her Master's Degree and PhD. Pragya is no-doubt a very accomplished woman, but things haven't always been easy for her.

During her academic career, she suffered from stress and burnout, and more recently, after the premature birth of her twins, fought anxiety and depression. Severely sleep-deprived and under pressure with not one but two babies suffering from colic and reflux, Pragya fell back on to her safety net. Creativity.

During a break from her career, Pragya had turned her hobby of print-making into a business by setting up her own art studio Hedge and Hog Prints. And in 2017, inspired by her twins' multiple allergies, she founded The Art Tiffin, a vegan and eco-friendly box of art material.

A family-run and ethical business, The Art Tiffin is the first social enterprise to actively campaign for cruelty-free art materials. Pragya is passionate about helping families find the most natural, toxic-free products, and fostering creativity in children from a young age, but she also knows how important it is to raise awareness about mental health and make a positive social impact by giving back to charities.

In this episode, Pragya walks you through the research and neuroscience behind creativity, something that she believes we can all find inside of ourselves. She explains how taking only a few minutes out of your busy days to do something creative can do wonders for your mental health and wellbeing. And if you think you're not the creative type, hold on. Because you'll find out exactly what being creative means and what you can do to express your own creativity.

Soon after Melissa Brujin had her first child, she realised that things weren’t quite right. Struggling to bond with her baby, wracked with anxiety about her abilities as a mum, and experiencing a general loss of confidence, she wondered what was wrong with her. Although she sought help, she couldn't find anything appropriate in her hometown. Thankfully, there was one person she could turn to: her sister-in-law and midwife Debby Gould.

With Debby's help, plus the wonderful online support she eventually found from mothers on the other side of the world and alongside her own research, Melissa was able to connect the dots and recognise that her emotions and experience of early motherhood had been strongly impacted by the traumatic birth of her first child. Fast forward 19 years, Melissa (now a happy and healed mother of three) and mum-of-two Debby (now a birth consultant), have helped thousands of women and families to heal from traumatic birth experiences through their work at Birthtalk.org.

Melissa and Debby co-authored the book How to Heal a Bad Birth where they emphasise that a traumatic birth where the mother doesn't feel heard or supported, or where she feels frightened or out of control, isn't just something to just 'get over’. Through the book, their in-person workshops and individual consultations, Melissa and Debby have been supporting mothers all over the world to recover from their birthing experiences, so that they can go on to have positive and empowering subsequent births, or if they are not having more babies, they can go back to their families feeling more at peace and able to move on.

In this episode, you'll understand what defines a 'bad' birth and how a challenging experience can negatively impact your mental health. You’ll find out how a traumatic experience can affect women for years to come, if not unpicked and addressed in the right way. You'll also learn how to create your own personalised healing journey by looking at the way you feel now and reflecting back on the life-changing experience of childbirth.

If you suffer from niggling symptoms and never quite feel in best health, you probably put it down to your busy life, reach for the painkillers, and try to get on with your day as best you can.

But did you know that your body is giving you these warning signs and signals that there might be an underlying dysfunction? Your job is to learn to listen to the messages your body is giving you, understand why this is happening, and do something about it.

That's what Jackie Bowker, the mum of a 3 and 6 year old, did. After suffering from adrenal depletion, chronic fatigue syndrome and a decades-long disordered eating and sugar addiction, Jackie learnt first-hand the profound power of food as medicine. As a result of her illness, Jackie became passionate about restoring bodies back to balance to achieve optimal health, and became a Functional Nutritionist.

Jackie went on to establish Hello Happy where, amongst other things, runs a transformative 21 Day Nutrition Course and Plan to detox, reset and revitalise your body to live a healthier life.

In this episode, Jackie will help you identify the root cause of your dysfunction and will set you on the path to heal the body through nutrition, without the need for synthetic drugs or surgery. Her philosophy is simple: the symptoms you’re experiencing like digestive issues, weight gain, infertility, adult acne, anxiety etc, result from weaknesses in the body’s physiological foundations. And it can all be fixed by cleaning up your diet and lifestyle.

Follow Jackie's advice and you'll start to feel vibrant again. You'll shed excess weight, look and feel fantastic and watch niggly problems melt away. As one of her clients so eloquently put it, "Jackie has turned my sluggish body into a strong, lean, high functioning machine and I am now so much better equipped to deal with life's challenges such as raising a small family of 5 with 3 children under 3."

As the mum of a small baby and a two year old, Liz Sergeant knows first hand how much of her energy her kids use up. But unlike the rest of us, Liz has a sneaky advantage.

She's a registered nutritionist and understands that what you eat not only affects your energy levels, but also your sleep quality, mood, concentration, digestion, body shape and many other health complaints.

Liz believes that the foundation of good nutrition and health is based on eating real foods. She also knows that mums lead busy lives, and with so much conflicting dietary advice out there, this can be a lot harder than it sounds. She founded The Well Nourished Club to help cut through the confusion and support people to change their diet, improve their nutrition and achieve their goals.

But this episode goes beyond just food. Liz takes a holistic approach and as well as talking about nutrition, we discuss adapting to motherhood while running a business, avoiding burnout, and getting the balance right by recognising your limitations and being realistic in what you can achieve.

Your body is your most precious possession and Liz is here to help you look after it. By the end of this episode you will cast aside the chocolate cake, reclaim your flagging energy, and, like Liz, may even consider eating vegetables for breakfast!

With kids comes clobber. The toys, the clothes, the special equipment. Bigger car. Bigger house. More storage. It goes on and on. But what would happen if you decided not to buy anything new for a year?

I loathe shopping, but even I gasped in shock. What nothing? For a whole year? Impossible.

Well not for Jen Gale. In 2012/13 when her two boys were small, she decided to give it a try. Just for fun. It was a bit of a diversion from changing nappies and running around after children all day.

Little did she know that her Make Do and Mend project would lead her to running a successful blog and podcast and having a Facebook group with 16,000 members.  She's appeared on National TV and in the Guardian newspaper (UK), and has even done a TEDx talk. At the beginning of this year, Jen turned her project into a business when she launched her online membership program, The Good Business Hub.

As you can imagine, I had a lot of questions for Jen. In this episode, you'll find out how she managed special occasions like Christmas and kids birthdays when spending is almost inevitable. How she handled getting the necessary things you need for kids, such as car seats. What happened when essential items, like the washing machine, broke down. And the big one, how she got her husband on board with her seemingly wacky plan.

Most mums, I imagine, would bulk at the idea of not buying anything new for a year, but it's enlightening to hear what Jen learnt along the way about herself, her life, and the world we're all leaving behind for our grandchildren.

Dr Kate Dow (PhD) grew up surrounded by anxiety, it was inherent in her home life as a child and seemed to be an integral part of who she was.

Not surprising then, that when she became a mum at the age of 35, anxiety hit her hard. It was understandable. Her children were born just 13 months apart and she was caught in a difficult marriage which later fell apart. Kate ended up raising her two children - who are now 18 and 19 - as a single parent and was constantly gripped by anxiety.

But Kate didn't want this life and worked hard to combat and overcome her fears. She's devoted her life to supporting women, especially mums, through her multidisciplinary, heart-centered approach. She's a successful Mind-Body Psychologist, Consultant, and Empowerment Coach and the author of the book Fear-Less: The Art of Using Anxiety to your Advantage.

In this episode, we talk about how prevalent anxiety is amongst mums, and how anxiety can negatively spread through your world in a downwards spiral. You'll understand how anxiety impacts you and learn how to notice the signs of it showing up in your life. Kate's 'Fear-Less' approach has been created specifically for women, and through it, you'll discover how to transform your anxiety.

Like many mums, Lucy Parsons didn’t want to return to her full time job as a high school teacher once her children came along. But she also couldn't find a fulfilling part time job that fitted around her kids, aged 8 and 6. So she looked at the online world.

As a straight 'A' Cambridge (UK) graduate, Lucy decided to pursue the thing that she was best at in the world; passing exams. But how can being good at passing exams help you create the dream of having a thriving online business, and still be there to pick up your kids from school? Well, Lucy is testament that anything is possible if you want it badly enough.

Lucy became an Academic Coach and started Life More Extraordinary where she empowers ambitious students to get the top grades in their exams and into their first choice of university.

In this episode Lucy shares the key components to her success. Structure, discipline and making sure she cares for her own needs before ever pulling out her laptop. Lucy teaches you the importance of structuring your time and not frittering it away, whilst at the same time not allowing your self-imposed goals to overwhelm you. She explains how she came to realise that the most important thing in her day is self care and how she disciplines herself to make sure she fits it in.

Lucy knows that the most important task is the one that will move you forward the fastest and that outsourcing things that aren't her strengths makes her happy. By being savvy with how she plans her work, she's able to spend maximum time with her family as a result.

Lucy thought having a life doing the things that she dreamed of as a child was reserved for the 'chosen few'. Now she knows that you can have it all, and today she'll show you how to make it happen.

Motherhood hit Stacey Ogden like a ton of bricks. Her baby was premature and the first months of her life were spent in hospital. Several years later, the attachment she had with her daughter, who is now 7 years old, was so strong that she completely gave up everything in her life for her.

The stark reality dawned on Stacey that she was so consumed by motherhood, that she no longer had a life outside being a mum. She realised that this was no good either for herself, or for her daughter, and something had to be done.

Slowly and gradually she clawed back her own identity and started a blog. Through her posts and podcast at Busy Mom Collective, Stacey now helps and supports mums who’ve experienced similar struggles as hers.

Stacey's mission is to help mums realise that making themselves a priority isn’t selfish or neglectful. On the contrary. By being a role model for the type of adult you want your kids to be, you're loving them in a better way. Do you really want your kids growing up thinking it's normal to be a frenzied ball of stress that doesn’t have a life?

In this episode, Stacey encourages you to find out what what lights you up outside of your children. It's all about self-reflection, finding something that excites you and having the discipline to go ahead and make it part of your schedule.

You'll learn to find the balance between spending time with your children and finding time for yourself; letting go of control; making yourself a priority without feeling guilty; and changing the way you talk to yourself.

Mum of 3 and founder of Gumptious, Naomi Light has always had a fascination with psychology. She loves learning about the inner workings of the mind, but it wasn’t until things in her life went horribly wrong did she realise how important the theories she’d learnt would become.

When Naomi and her husband found themselves in a failed management buyout of the family business their financial world started to unravel. Worse still they discovered the business was on the verge of collapse and they needed to bail it out of debt and re-build it. The resulting pressure of mounting debt put a big strain on their marriage and on Naomi's health.

Naomi experienced a breakdown early in 2017. For three months she was barely able to crawl through each day and held on by a thread. But she knew she had to dig deep to turn things around. It was a slow and painful journey of self-discovery, but gradually Naomi started to come to terms with what had happened and started to see the good in it. Her story is phenomenal, and she candidly shares the highs, the lows, and the lessons learnt along the way.

In this episode we talk about money; having it, not having it, and what you should do with it. Through Naomi’s financial story, we discuss how to fall back on your core values when you don’t know which way to turn; how to shape and pursue your goals when the odds are stacked against you; and how to be grateful for the small things, even in your darkest hour. Naomi explains how she refused to be a victim of her emotions and details how she changed her mindset to find a more desired alternative to the black hole she found herself in.

By the end of the show, you'll recognise the huge contribution you make to the financial health of your family, irrespective of whether you go out to work or not by gaining a deeper insight into the value of money, the value of yourself, and the value of others.

She's also founder of SpikedParenting where she hands busy parents the tools they need to organise their homes and businesses, to be more productive, and, as a result, to have more time for the important things in life.

Now, call me a nerd, but this stuff gets me all excited.

Why? Because I love knowing that I've gleaned the most I possibly can from those precious pockets of time without the kids. In turn, I can then give myself fully to my family when we’re together, knowing that everything that needs to be done, has.

In this episode, Brianna shares how she’s successfully been able to run her business, while, (until very recently) look after her three year old at home full time. She lets us into the secrets of how she systematises and automates the mundane to make room for those 'big rocks' - the things that really matter.

We talk about how to create and fine tune systems that work alongside whatever season of motherhood you're in. You'll discover how to schedule your to-do's according to how much energy you have, how big your block of time is, and how likely you are to get distrurbed by your children.

You'll leave knowing how to syphon out what is truly important and dump what isn't, without feeling guilty about it. By doing so, you'll make better choices about how to use your time and stop getting caught up with people pleasing or perfectionism.

And guess what? By doing so, suddenly you'll start accomplishing your goals and feeling good about the fantastic things you've managed to achieve.
